Forging relationships between volunteers and students to inspire academic and personal growth
When a group of mothers were looking to get additional academic support to their children in 1964, they formed an organization and turned to a local resource: educated volunteer tutors. For more than 40 years, Tutoring Plus has been forging relationships between volunteers and students to inspire academic and personal growth. Tutoring Plus provides free services to families, a structured environment for volunteers, and a highly personal learning environment that produces positive and rewarding results for all involved. Read about our history.
Today, Tutoring Plus serves between 100 and 130 students in grades 4 through 12, works with about 100 volunteer tutors, employs 2 full-time staff, and continues to grow annually. Please continue reading to learn more about our programs, volunteers, partners, and supporters.

Our Volunteers
Tutoring Plus is special among after-school and tutoring programs because we recruit young, highly educated volunteers who provide academic support and are role models for our students. Many of our tutors come from MIT, Kendall Square high-tech firms, and other local young professionals. Find out more about volunteering with Tutoring Plus.
Our Partners and Supporters
Part of a trusted organization known to the public schools and to the neighborhood, Tutoring Plus’ staff and directors continue to develop and enhance community, corporate, and foundation relationships. Tutoring Plus depends on these relationships to be able to offer free tutoring and mentoring services to low-income families.
